ICG Now Authenticates,
Grades and Encapsulates
Problem Coins
Effective immediately, ICG will authenticate, grade and encapsulate problem
coins, tokens and medals that qualify for any level of general coin
grading service currently provided.
ICG will
accept submissions of problem coins and, unless the coin does not
qualify for one of our general grading services or is identified
as having questionable authenticity, your coin
will be encapsulated in a holder and returned with an
annotated description of the problem. Gone is the disappointment of the “body
bag” and those $5.00 charges to inform you that your coins do not
qualify for encapsulation.
The categories we will annotate on a
problem coin include, but are not limited to, identifying whether a coin
has an altered surface or has experienced artificial toning,
cleaning, corrosion, counting wheel damage, environmental damage, or other
forms of damage. In addition, we will examine and encapsulate ex-jewelry, holed,
plugged, various forms of repair, filed rims and edges, scratches,
tooling, whizzing, polishing and graffiti on coins.
Initiation of our problem coin
program represents the continuation and expansion of ICG’s ongoing effort to provide
the most comprehensive, reputable and independent coin grading service in the
industry. We thank you for your continued patronage and look forward to
fulfilling all of your coin grading needs.
Respectfully,
The
ICG family!
